In memoriam: Bart Crouwers, organic cranberry pioneer

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the tragic death of Bart Crouwers, a dedicated organic cranberry grower and pioneer. Bart died on 6 May 2024 in a fatal accident in the mountains of northern Italy, where he took a fatal fall while hiking. His son witnessed this tragic incident.

Bart was source of inspiration within cranberry cultivation in the Krimpenerwaard region. With his company, The Cranberry Company, he introduced the very first organic cranberries to the region. Driven by his desire to combat climate change, he worked every day full of passion and dedication to lush cranberry fields in Gouderak, reducing CO2 emissions and promoting biodiversity.

Eosta is deeply shocked by the loss of Bart, with whom we had a close working relationship. His knowledge, enthusiasm and vision were invaluable to us and the organic growing community.

Recently, his family and friends said goodbye to him in a special way, amid the cranberry fields he had cultivated with so much love and devotion. Bart's legacy will live on in these fields and in the hearts of all who knew him.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
