After a complex South American season with a very small crop caused by weather phenomenon El Nino, the West African Mango season has started.
We started with the variety Amelie and have now received the first delicious Mango Kent from both Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast.
For both origins, we have been working with our partner Adama Zongo of Fruiteq for 15 years, In addition to his own production, Adama packs and exports mangoes from many small producers in Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast. Together with Fruiteq, Eosta launched a Living Wage project in 2020, which guarantees a living wage for its producers and employees.
These African regions are ideal for growing mangoes because of their climate and soil. As one of the poorest countries in the world, the export of mangoes is of huge importance to Burkino Faso.
Adama expects a good harvest, both in terms of quality and volume. Due to a relatively long period of drought, the fruit is slightly smaller than in a normal season.
Most fruit is expected to be harvested in sizes ct.9 and 10. Which is considered ideal in our market.
