Last Friday, 23d October, the President of the Dutch Horticultural Council Nico Koomen came to Waddinxveen with a big cake to personally notify Eosta CEO Volkert Engelsman of his nomination for the Horticultural Entrepreneurship Award 2016. Eosta, a leading international specialist in organic produce, was nominated for its "continuous stream of innovations" in the area of food transparency, organic production and sustainable packaging.
With the reputation the Netherlands have when it comes to horticultural innovations, the award is seen as rather prestigious in its field. Four companies in total were nominated. President Nico Koomen: "The finalists have in common that have a strong strategy to adapt to a fast developing society, where sustainability and economy go hand in hand."
About Eosta, he added: "Eosta has been proving for 25 years that ecology and economy can go together. During that time, the company developed internationally as one of the leading importers and exporters in its market segment. With the Nature & More "trace & tell" trademark Eosta offers full transparency to consumers about its products."
The winner of the Horticultural Entrepreneur Award 2016 will be announced on the 6th of January 2016 in the famous Keukenhof flower gardens near Amsterdam.
